FAQ’s

1. I have never been to any dance lessons before so I am a COMPLETE BEGINNER.  I have two left feet and NO sense of rhythm?

Don’t worry! In the Beginners’ or LEVEL 1 class we assume students know Absolutely Nothing about dancing.  Feeling that you have two left feet and no sense of rhythm is NOT a problem – in fact it is extremely common.  Most people feel this when they first come to any lesson.

2. I’ve never danced, will I stand out? Will I look foolish?

No, you will be surrounded by other people, who, just like yourself, have never danced before and are at least as nervous as you are. Now is the time to learn! Don’t wait and don’t put it off. Our Unique Program is designed especially to make learning both Fun & Simple for All Beginners, no matter how many left feet they think they have. Trust Me! You WILL “get it”, just have a bit of patience, and yes, it is going to change your life in ways you can’t imagine!

3. Do I need to bring a partner?

Not necessary. You will find men and women of all ages and backgrounds to dance with. During classes we rotate partners so that everyone gets a chance to dance with everyone. You will be surprised how quickly you make new friends here. However, bring your friends/partners and get them to start dancing, it’s a lot of fun!

4. I’m bringing someone; do I have to rotate partners?

Rotating partners is not solely for social reasons. It is crucial to the learning process. It is very important to properly learn how to lead and/or follow. Everyone has a different style, and changing partners will greatly enhance the speed at which you learn. That being said, if learning with your partner is important to you, why not take private lessons alongside the group lessons and enjoy the best of both worlds – the social & technical benefits of group lessons plus the chance to develop unique, special moves & routines you only perform together and making you stand out from the crowd!

5. Do I need to book or can I just turn up to a Dance lesson on the day?

No, there is no need to book. It is however cheaper if you book earlier. It is advisable if you check the discount offers available. Else- just turn-up 15 minutes earlier to know what you missed and join in the dance lesson. You will however not be able to join the regular class if the entire class has done more than 3 classes. Sign up earlier for the next course or speak to your instructor for information.

6. What should I wear?

What you wear is up to you as long as your clothes are comfortable and don’t restrict your movement. Make sure you are smart and neat. Jeans or casual clothing is good. Wear shoes that are comfortable and do not stick to the floor as this will make it difficult for you to turn. Bare feet or flip-flops is a definite NO.  We recommend that you get buy some dancing shoes or get in touch with us to help you. Also it is advisable to get an extra pair of attire in case you need a change.

7. Which Classes should I take? Are they all the same?

All the Beginner classes & courses are fun. It is recommended that you learn whatever you can, depending on your time. The more courses you do, the faster will be the development of your dancing skills.

8. Will it be confusing if I learn different dance styles at the same time?

Not really. The beginners classes consist of simple steps and different dance styles has different rhythms. So it is really ok to take different courses, which I think in fact will enable you better coordination as it is more hours of dancing and practice.

9. How soon can I go and dance in the clubs?

We encourage beginners to go to salsa clubs as soon as they feel comfortable with the basics, which should not take longer than a course. If you dance with 10 different people a night, this will get you to the next level soon.

10. I want to learn it really fast – how?

Take regular classes. Perhaps try different teachers. Take a private lesson or ask for specific attention from your instructor. Keep practicing 5 minutes a day till your next class and practice what you learnt in class just before you go to bed. Imagination of your move in case you don’t have a partner to practice is a good technique as well.

11. Is it compulsory to join an entire 8 week course, can I just drop in?

You can drop into class JUST TO LOOK, however If you’re serious about dancing, it’s better to register and do the entire 8 week course. Besides, it’s better value than 800Rs/class

12. I am an old student and have already done the course but I need to refresh my skills, can I attend the classes?

You would be able to attend the Refresher classes (classes already attended and learned)  provided you are also enrolled in that course in the higher level. You would also be able to attend unlimited refresher classes. Though this may be complimentary, it is at the instructor’s discretion and you have to inform us if you would be attending those classes as well.

13. I prefer learning in smaller/larger (more social) group classes what do you recommend?

Some people like the social atmosphere of larger groups while others prefer to get maximum personal attention in the class. Our classes are typically 10-20 people so you get plenty of individual attention and at the same time get a chance to dance with everyone.

14. Can I bring a group of people? Is there an Age limit?

Absolutely! If you’re nervous about taking a class on your own, simply invite your friends to come along with you. They’ll have a great time and you’ll be able to practice together. Our classes are primarily set up to cater for Adults, but we will allow students as young as 13 (not younger!)

15. Which style do you teach?

Have a look at our courses offered section about the different courses. Unlike others who concentrate on a particular style of Salsa, we cover and explain the entire spectrum from Cuban to Los Angeles style Salsa. We also emphasize on the Rueda when we dance Cuban Salsa.

16. What should I wear to the Dance Party Nights and where are they?

Women would not feel out of place wearing smart trousers, a dress or a skirt.  Men wear more of a range of clothes. Make sure you are feeling comfortable and sexy at the same time. Please check the recommended dance clubs section on our website.

17. The discount period is over, can I still get a discount?

We get this question a lot. Yes, it is possible. You could pay upfront for the next 5 batches with the discounted rate and we would honour the discount.

18. I have paid for a Batch but attended only 2 classes, can I carry it over my registration to the next batch?

Sure, you can. You could pay 1500Rs for every class you attended and carry over the registration to the next batch.  This is, however, at the instructors discretion.

19. I have paid for a Batch more than 3 months back and have not attended classes, can I avail of the same registration now or for the future?

We try to be as accommodating as possible.  We would be happy to allow this for a fee of 1000Rs per month missed from the date of payment.  This, too, is, however, at the instructors discretion.

20. I was under the belief it is a two month course, yet it is 7 weeks. Moreover I joined in the third class, do I have to pay the same fees?

All our courses are a 7 week course. the 8th class is where we have an exam and a party afterwards for which we encourage everyone to ‘dress-up’. We spend a lot more effort to get you up to speed for which we are not charging you more. Moreover you pay for a batch and not for the number of classes. The choice of joining late is yours.
